Never put your hand in the disposal!
Most circuit breaker panels are labeled. If you need to work on a
clogged disposal find your electric panel and turn off the breaker to
the disposal.
If your panel is not labeled, 1) turn the disposal on, 2) turn each
breaker off until you locate the breaker that powers the disposal, 3)
don't forget to label it while your there in case you need to work on it
again.
Bits of food may collect under the rubber cover at the opening of your
sink. If your disposal flap lifts out, remove it and clean with a scrub
brush and warm soapy water. Use an old tooth brush to clean under
the flap if it is not removable.
Cut a lemon in 1/2 and place in the disposal with a couple table
spoons of baking soda. Grind this mixture for about 20 seconds, then
turn the cold water faucet on and continue to run the disposal for 30
seconds.
Repeat as needed...
